You surely have had some days in which you have planed amazing outdoors activities but the weather hasn't allowed you to do them. What a pity! Isn't it?

Well… Here I have the solution! Just hang a Teru Teru Bozu to invoke a sunny day or make the rain stop. Easy!

This tradition started in Japan, with some cute handmade dolls called Teru Teru Bozu. The doll is typically made from white or cream-colored cloth or paper, and it has a simple, round shape with a face drawn or painted on it. It is often dressed in a traditional monk’s robe, which is tied with a cord around its waist. The doll’s name comes from the Japanese words “teru” (which means “shine” or “to be sunny”) and “bozu” (which means “monk” or “bald-headed priest”).

In this post, I’ll share a wonderful tutorial on YouTube that will show you how to crochet your own Teru Teru Bozu amigurumi from start to finish.

To make your own Teru Teru Bozu amigurumi, you’ll need some basic crochet skills and a few supplies, including yarn, a crochet hook, polyester fiberfill, and a yarn needle. The tutorial is easy to follow and perfect for crochet beginners.

So, if you’re ready to try your hand at making your own Teru Teru Bozu amigurumi, head over to this link on YouTube to check out the tutorial. I can’t wait to see all the amazing Teru Teru Bozu dolls you create!

PD: The audio is in Spanish, but it’s easy to follow only with the images.

Crocheter and Amigurumi designer

My name is Louise, but most of you call me Chantal (my second name). I’m an electrical engineer, MSc in Astronomical Engineering. However, when my job at the Observatory is done I become a crochet lover and Amigurumi designer. Give me a crochet, yarns and a cup of tea and I will be completely happy.
